The Ministry of Digital Transformation wishes to advise the public of reports of IT systems worldwide being affected by a faulty update issued by cyber-security company, CrowdStrike. Statements released by CrowdStrike CEO, George Kurtz on social media platform X confirm that it was not a cyber-attack but a defect found “in a single content update for Windows hosts.” The Company has identified and deployed a fix but expects it will take some time before all systems are back up and running.
While major outages have hit industries across the globe, there has been no significant impact on Government Services in Trinidad and Tobago. Reports indicate hat some sectors may have experienced minor setbacks, which have been resolved in the majority. The Government, through its related assets, will continue to monitor activities across Ministries, Departments and Agencies as part of its sustained vigilance and will keep the public updated on all relevant future developments on this matter.
